The Faculty Development Programme (FDP) on "Implementation Strategies for NEP: Focus on Outcome-Based Education" is designed to provide educators with practical skills and insights for implementing the National Education Policy (NEP-2020), with an emphasis on Outcome-Based Education (OBE). This FDP empowers faculty members by offering advanced strategies to transform higher education, aligning their teaching, assessment, and research practices with global standards and NEP directives. Facilitators:

  • Prof Ved Prakash, Former Chairman, University Grants Commission (UGC), Chancellor, KIIT University, Bhubaneswar, Vice-President, Dayanand Anglo-Vedic National Management Committee, New Delhi. He is a renowned educationist with over 41 years of experience in teaching, research, and administration. He has held several key academic and administrative positions, including Chairman and Vice-Chairman of the UGC, Vice-Chancellor of the National University of Educational Planning & Administration (NUEPA), and Director of NIEPA, New Delhi. His leadership has been instrumental in shaping education policy and reforms in India. In his role as Chancellor of KIIT University, Bhubaneswar, Prof Prakash continues to advocate for academic excellence and innovation. He has been a consultant for the World Bank and contributed to educational initiatives globally. His academic journey includes being a US Fulbright Fellow and having delivered over 140 convocation addresses worldwide. Prof Prakash’s contributions have been recognised through numerous awards and honors, including honorary doctorates from Jadavpur University and Bilaspur University, the National Lifetime Achievement Award, and the Educationist Par Excellence Award. He is also a member of the UNESCO Jury for the Wenhui Award and has published extensively in the field of education. His work continues to influence education policies and practices globally, particularly in the areas of higher education and educational reform.
     
  • Prof A K Bakhshi, Founding Vice-Chancellor of PDM University, Bahadurgarh, Haryana, and served as the Executive Director of the Tertiary Education Commission (TEC) in Mauritius from October 2013 to February 2015. Previously, he was the Vice-Chancellor of U P. Rajarshi Tandon Open University from 2011 to 2013 and held the Sir Shankar Lal Chair of Chemistry at the University of Delhi for over two decades. He also directed the Institute of Lifelong Learning and the Centre for Professional Development in Higher Education at Delhi University. Currently, he chairs the National Resource Centre of Chemistry and the Centre for e-Learning at SGTB Khalsa College. Prof Bakhshi has made significant contributions to national education initiatives, including the National Science Digital Library and the SAKSHAT portal. A double gold medalist and PhD holder from Delhi University, he trained under Nobel Laureate K Fukui in Japan and has been a Visiting Scientist at renowned institutions. With over 180 research publications, 51 books, and numerous e-modules, his research focuses on theoretical polymer chemistry. He has received numerous awards, including the His Excellence-Education (HEE) Award in 2021 and the Haryana Ratan Award in 2016. Additionally, he was elected President of the Chemical Sciences section of the Indian Science Congress Association for 2011-12 and was a pioneer in the Indian Research Expedition to Antarctica in 1984.
     
  • Prof Vimal Rarh, Director, UGC-MMTTC, Professor, Department of Chemistry, SGTB Khalsa College, DU, Member, Expert Committee, MMT Programme, UGC, is a prominent edupreneur with over 30 years of experience, including a decade in corporate e-learning. A pioneer in ICT implementation in higher education, she has contributed to e-content development, MOOCs, and teacher empowerment in ICT skills. Prof Rarh authored around 400 e-content modules and developed over 50 MOOCs. As the Director of UGC-MMTTC and the National Resource Centre of Chemistry, she has trained over 100,000 teachers nationwide since 2016. She conceptualised the Teacher’s e-kit and the Four Quadrant Format for the UGC’s e-PG-Pathshala Project. Prof Rarh also played a key role in developing ARPIT courses for SWAYAM, which gained national recognition. Her policy contributions include serving on UGC committees for Online Courses Regulations and National Academic Depository, among others. Prof Rarh’s work has earned her numerous awards, including the INSA Best Teacher Award (2020) and the Edupreneur Award from Bahrain’s Minister of Education. She was also felicitated by Smt Smriti Zubin Irani, Minister of Education, Government of India, for her significant role in teacher training initiatives.
     
  • Dr Bibhu Prasad Sahoo, Professor, Department of Commerce, Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Khalsa College, University of Delhi. He holds a PhD in Commerce and an MPhil in Finance from the University of Delhi. With over 25 years of extensive academic and research experience, Dr Sahoo has made significant contributions to the field of financial management and strategic cost analysis. He has served as a consultant for numerous corporate training programs and led research projects on sustainable financial practices. A prolific scholar, Dr Sahoo has authored multiple research papers in peer-reviewed journals and co-authored a book on "Advanced Corporate Finance." Recognised for his dedication to faculty development, he has conducted various workshops on financial modelling, advanced Excel applications, e-content creation, and data analysis across premier institutes. He is also a Senior Mentor at Guru Angad Dev Teaching Learning Centre, imparting expertise in pedagogical advancements and digital education solutions to educators nationwide.
     
  • Prof Gurmohinder Singh, Principal, SGTB Khalsa College, University of Delhi. With over two decades of experience in the field of education, Dr Singh has made significant contributions to academia. Before assuming his current role, he served as a professor at SGND College, where he was recognised for his innovative teaching methods and dedication to student success. Dr Singh has been instrumental in enhancing academic programs and fostering a culture of excellence. He has played a key role in the development of various curriculum reforms and initiatives aimed at promoting research and interdisciplinary learning. As Principal, he has successfully led the institution through various academic and infrastructural advancements, earning accolades for his leadership in promoting a student-centric environment. His commitment to academic innovation, coupled with his leadership and advocacy for educational reform, has left an indelible mark on the academic community. Dr Singh is a passionate advocate for the integration of technology in education and is actively involved in numerous projects aimed at improving educational accessibility and quality.
     
  • CMA Dr Arun Julka, Associate Professor, Maharaja Agrasen College, University of Delhi. He has M Com and M Phil from the Faculty of Commerce and Business, Delhi School of Economics, University of Delhi. He is also an Associate member of the Institute of Cost and Works Accountants of India. He has a vast experience of more than 29 years and has been a visiting faculty at various management institutes. He has published one book on Business Mathematics and Statistics (from TAXMANN Publication). E-learning: He is a Senior Fellow at Guru Angad Dev Teaching Learning Centre of MHRD, SGTB Khalsa College, University of Delhi. He has conducted more than 500 sessions in GAD-TLC and other colleges in blended learning workshops across the country including Moodle, Writer’s Tools, Presentation Tools, Business Mathematics, Financial Management using Spreadsheet, Hot Potatoes, MOOCs, Audacity, etc. He has trained faculty in the development of e-KITS in this Centre.
     
  • Dr Gulshan Shaikh, Vice Principal at St Xavier's College, Mumbai, is a dedicated chemistry educator with an illustrious career spanning over 38 years at one of India’s premier academic institutions. She earned her PhD in Chemistry from Mumbai University, focusing on nitrogen heterocycles, and holds an MSc in Organic Chemistry and a Higher Education Diploma. Starting her journey as a Junior College Teacher in 1977, Dr Shaikh progressed to Associate Professor and served as Vice Principal (Academics) from 2016 to 2017. Renowned for her adaptive teaching strategies and fostering of interactive learning, she has cultivated a questioning mindset in students, emphasising engagement and comprehensive understanding. Her influence extends beyond the classroom through pedagogical mentoring and the creation of educational resources. Post-retirement, her commitment to education continues with active involvement at the Homi Bhabha Centre for Science Education (HBCSE), reflecting her enduring dedication to academic growth and leadership.
     
  • Dr Preeti Rawat, Director of the Faculty & Staff Development Centre,Professor OB / HR at K J Somaiya Institute of Management, and Chief Editor of Business Perspectives and Research, Sage Publications. She has earned her doctorate in the area of empowerment and organisational effectiveness from the University of Mumbai, India. Prof Preeti is a certified Behavioural Coach and assessor for WorkPlace Big Five Profile 3.0TM and Seville International Certification. Her management training experience spans private and public sector organisations in the areas of D&I (gender, disability, millennial), leadership, employee engagement, empowerment, handling difficult feedback, psychometric testing, interpersonal effectiveness, attitude and motivation, trust at the workplace, transactional analysis, time management, problem-solving skills, overcoming personal ineffectiveness, team building and management of change, and inspirational leadership. Prof Preeti has participated in International Conferences. She has extensively published her work in national and international journals. Her research interests are empowerment, organisational commitment, job satisfaction, organisation structure, diversity & inclusion, leadership, and talent management.
     
  • Dr Pooja Vaibhav Birwatkar, Principal, K J Somaiya College of Education. She has pursued her post doctoral research from Homi Bhabha Centre of Science Education and holds a PhD from Centre of Advanced Study in Education (CASE), Baroda. She holds a masters degree in science (Zoology) and Master’s in education from CASE. At Master’s of education level she has been a University topper and secured a distinction along with 2 gold Medals for securing highest percentage. She has also completed a Post Graduate Diploma in Industrial Relation and Personnel Management-(IRPM). Dr Pooja Birwatkar has throughout been meritorious students and earned a junior research fellowship (JRF) from ICSSR (Indian Council of Social Science Research) as well as scholarship from M S University, Baroda for PhD. Dr Pooja Birwatkar had been a visiting scientist at HBCSE where she pursued her post doctoral research from 2012-2014. She also worked as a Consultant with Observer Research Foundation (ORF) Mumbai. Dr Pooja Birwatkar is presently Assistant Professor at the K J Somaiya Comprehensive College of Education, Training and Research. Her areas of interest include research in science; inquiry based learning, diversity and science education as well as environment education.
     
  • Ms Alka Bansal, Academic Director at Warden Education Technologies and an accomplished educational leader with over 20 years of experience in curriculum development, teacher training, and educational management. In her current role, she specialises in designing academic strategies, fostering cross-functional collaboration, and implementing innovative methodologies, including AI-driven learning. Ms Bansal has played a pivotal role in creating integrated curricula, training programmes, and digital content platforms. Previously, she was with Podar Education Network, where she led large-scale programmes and leadership training initiatives. With a strong background in strategic planning, stakeholder management, and educational innovation, she is currently pursuing a PhD in Education to enhance her impact in the field.

Important Information for Participants:

  • Teachers selected for the programme are to be treated as ON DUTY with full pay and allowances by the sponsoring University/College where he/she is working.
  • The NOC and ON DUTY relieving letter needs to be submitted by the participant on the letter Head of the institution.
  • Punctuality, Regularity, Participation, and Purposefulness would be emphasized in this FDP.
  • The UGC-MMTTC may even disallow the issuance of certificates to participants on notified valid grounds such as attendance, qualifying the test etc.
  • Successful candidates in UGC-approved programmes will be issued certificates as per UGC prescribed format.

Eligibility for FDP:

  • All Subject Teachers (Permanent/ Temporary/ Ad-hoc/ Contractual/ Guest from University/College) but must be presently in service.
  • Faculty members working in Universities and Colleges that are included under Section 2(f) of the UGC Act
  • The Teachers of Colleges that do not yet come within the purview of Section 2(f), but have been affiliated to a University for at least three years, will be permitted to participate in the courses.
