    Somaiya Vidyavihar University in association with Evonik India Private Limited has initiated the ‘Evonik Grow Beyond Yourself’ Scholarship for helping the girl students pursuing MSc. Degree program (in Biotechnology, Nutraceuticals, Polymer science, Industrial Biotechnology, Chemical Biology and Drug Design) and belonging to the economically weaker section of society.

    Evonik India Private Limited supports this initiative through their CSR project. The program will be anchored and conducted by Faculty & Staff Development Centre, Somaiya Vidyavihar University.

Course Structure and Content

The following are the modules and session details:
 

Section 1: Personal Growth 

Self-Awareness and Self-Discovery:   Understanding personality traits, Self-assessment techniques, self-perception

Emotional Intelligence: Understanding and managing emotions, Empathy and social awareness, Building and maintaining relationships

Interpersonal relationship: Developing rapport and trust with team members, Impact of self on others, impact of others on self, JOHARI window,

Goal setting and Time Management: Setting personal and professional goals, Prioritizing tasks, managing time effectively, and increasing productivity.

Section 2: Personal Branding & Communication 

Defining Personal Brand: Identifying unique value proposition, crafting a compelling personal brand story, and creating a professional online presence.

Verbal and Non-Verbal Communication: Developing strong verbal and written communication skills, public speaking techniques, and active listening. Mastering body language, facial expressions, and tone of voice to convey confidence and professionalism.

Resume and Cover Letter Writing: Developing strong resumes and cover letters that highlight achievements and skills.

Interview Preparation: Preparing for job interviews, common interview questions, and effective interview techniques.

 

Section 3: Professional Etiquette and Grooming

Business Etiquette: Understanding workplace etiquette, professional conduct, and social graces.

Dress Code and Grooming: Learning appropriate attire for different professional settings, personal grooming tips, and maintaining a polished appearance.

Dining Etiquette: Mastering dining etiquette, table manners, and cultural nuances.

Networking Skills: Building effective networking strategies, attending industry events, and fostering professional relationships.

Phone & Email Etiquette: Handling calls professionally – appropriate greetings, tone and closing statements for business calls, writing and managing professional emails.

 

Section 4: Career Planning for Women 

Understanding Gender Roles in Career Choices: Exploring how societal norms and expectations influence career aspirations and decisions for different genders.

Overcoming Gender Barriers in the Workplace: Identifying common gender-based challenges and strategies to navigate or break through them (e.g., glass ceiling, pay gap).

Developing a Creative Mindset for Career Growth: Encouraging innovative thinking and problem-solving skills to adapt to changing career landscapes and overcome gender-related challenges.

Empowering Career Decision-Making: Providing tools and techniques for making informed, confident career choices while considering gender dynamics.

 

Section 5: Women Leadership and Influence:

Leadership Qualities: Developing leadership skills, inspiring others, and building a strong team, empathy, personal connectedness.

Influence and Persuasion: Building influence, persuading others, and effectively presenting ideas

Unconscious bias : stereotypes and categories, preventing growth and career movement

Inclusive Leadership - inclusive mindset and inclusive communication

 

Section 6: Work-Life Balance and Well-being 

Stress Management: Managing stress, practising relaxation techniques, and maintaining work-life balance.

Work-Life Integration: Balancing personal and professional responsibilities, setting boundaries, and prioritizing self-care.

Financial Planning: Understanding financial literacy, budgeting, and saving for future goals.

Health and Wellness: Promoting physical and mental health, practising healthy habits, and maintaining well-being.

  • Financial Literacy: Personal finance, Investment options and financial planning
  • Women and Wellness: Women’ health and nutrition and physical & mental wellbeing
  • Intercultural:  Navigating the inter-cultural differences
  • Outbound Experiential Learning: An Immersive Leadership Experience

Course Delivery and Activities

  • Interactive Lectures: Engaging students through discussions, case studies, and role-playing activities
  • Each module will have an evaluation component, and a graded certificate will be given at the end based on the performance.

Format of sessions:

  • Synchronous: Session taken on a real time basis which will mostly be instructor-led. The participants would engage in real-time learning and interaction. This facilitates real-time discussions, immediate feedback, and collaborative activities, catering to student’s need for interactive and social learning experiences.
  • Asynchronous: Self-paced learning activities that participants can complete on their own schedule but submissions will involve a deadline. This allows students to learn at their own pace after the synchronous sessions, accommodating their busy schedules and diverse learning preferences, while enabling deeper reflection and self-directed skill based learning.
