Creating Safe Workplaces: Prevention of Sexual Harassment (POSH) at Work

This one-day FDP on the Prevention of Sexual Harassment (POSH) aims to equip faculty and staff with in-depth knowledge and practical tools for addressing sexual harassment in academic and corporate environments. The FDP will provide a thorough overview of the POSH Act, including its historical background and significant movements, such as the “Me Too” campaign, led by certified POSH trainers with extensive legal expertise. Participants will gain insights into various forms of sexual harassment, its effects on victims, and the roles and responsibilities of employers and Internal Committees. The FDP will also cover the legal framework governing complaints, investigation procedures, and confidentiality, supported by real-life case studies and legal precedents. Additionally, the FDP will address rape and criminal law relating to women, emphasising the creation of a supportive and respectful workplace culture.

Dr. Lipika Sharma, Advocate & Senior Consultant at UN Women, specializing in gender justice and climate change law. She serves as the G100 India Chair for SDGs, the Chief Legal Officer at ElJoJoFe e.V. Germany, and the CEO of VidAikyam Foundation, India. Dr. Sharma holds a PhD in Climate Change Law and has trained over 22,000 employees as an expert POSH trainer. She has published with various UN bodies and received multiple awards, including recognition from the United Nations Global Compact and the Women Economic Forum for her contributions to legal education and women's empowerment.
 

Dr Krishna Shetty, Associate Professor, KJ Somaiya Insititute of Management, Mumbai, specializes in Management Studies and Law. With 12 years of advocacy experience in the Mumbai High Court, he holds PhDs in Management Studies and Law, along with Master’s degrees in Criminal Law and Commerce. An entrepreneur and certified POSH trainer, he has trained over 1,500 Senior Police Officers in Maharashtra. A recipient of the YGS Memorial Award, he previously directed Bunts Sangha’s UKS Institute of Management Studies and enjoys cooking and fitness in his free time.
